It is both an honor and a profound responsibility to serve as the Dean of the Faculty
of Law at Dhaka International University—an institution that has long stood as a pioneer of legal
education in Bangladesh.
I pay my deepest tribute to the illustrious founder of this Faculty, the late Alhaj
Professor Dr. A. B. M. Mafizul Islam Patwari—a distinguished jurist, humanist, and visionary
academic. His unwavering commitment to justice, legal scholarship, and human values laid the
foundation of the first Faculty of Law among private universities in Bangladesh. His ideals continue
to inspire our mission, shape our academic ethos, and guide our pursuit of excellence.
Since its establishment in 1995, the Faculty of Law of Dhaka International University
has earned a reputation for academic rigor, ethical grounding, and professional relevance. Through
its LL.B. (Hons), LL.M., and MHRL programs, the Faculty has consistently produced skilled graduates
who have made meaningful contributions as judges, advocates, academics, policymakers, corporate
leaders, public servants, and social change-makers—both at home and abroad.
In today’s rapidly changing world—marked by globalization, technological advancement,
climate challenges, human rights concerns, and evolving legal systems—the study of law has become
more necessary than ever. Legal education is no longer confined to courtroom practice alone; it is
central to governance, economic development, social justice, and the protection of human dignity.
Our Faculty responds to this demand through a comprehensive curriculum, clinical legal education,
moot courts, mock trials, court visits, research initiatives, and close faculty-student engagement.
The Faculty of Law remains firmly committed to nurturing ethical, competent, and
socially responsible legal professionals—individuals who possess not only legal knowledge but also
integrity, critical thinking, leadership, and a deep sense of justice. We aim to cultivate jurists
who can think laterally, act compassionately, and serve the nation and humanity with distinction.
I am truly delighted to work alongside a dedicated team of faculty members,
researchers, staff, and students whose passion and commitment drive the Faculty forward. Together,
we aspire to strengthen our academic excellence, expand research horizons, and uphold the proud
legacy entrusted to us.
I warmly welcome prospective students, scholars, and collaborators to be part of the Faculty of Law
at Dhaka International University—a place where law is taught not merely as a profession, but as a
service to justice and society.
