Dhaka International University (DIU) provides the DIU Students App and university web portals as free services for our students, faculty, and community members. This page explains in simple terms how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app and services.
1. Information We Collect & Why
We only collect the minimum information required to deliver university services, academic records, and on-campus features:
A. Student Account Information
When you log in, we use your Student ID, university email address, and name to authenticate your account and display your personal academic profile, exam results, class routines, and notices.
B. Automatic Campus Wi-Fi Connection
To help you connect seamlessly to the high-speed DIU-Campus Wi-Fi network without typing passwords each time:
- The app securely registers your device with the university's network service.
- Your student ID and device model name are used only to set up a secure, encrypted digital connection profile for your phone.
Privacy Commitment: The Wi-Fi connection is fully encrypted. Your personal passwords and private security keys never leave your phone.
C. Device Permissions
- Wi-Fi & Nearby Devices: Required by your phone's operating system so the app can automatically configure and connect you to campus Wi-Fi. We do not track, record, or store your physical location.
- Camera: Used only when you choose to scan official QR codes (such as for attendance, event check-ins, or library services).
- Files & Storage: Used only when you choose to download and save documents like your class routines, result cards, or payment receipts.
2. How We Protect Your Data
We implement strict security measures to protect your information:
- All data transferred between the app and university servers is encrypted using standard HTTPS security.
- Your login tokens and network certificates are stored safely within your device's protected secure storage.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third-party marketing companies or advertisers.
3. Information Sharing
Your data is kept strictly confidential within Dhaka International University. We only share information with trusted third-party providers when necessary for core educational operations, such as secure tuition payment processing.
4. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have full control over your data. You can:
- View and verify your academic profile at any time through the app or the student portal.
- Remove your campus Wi-Fi profile from your device with a single tap in the app's Wi-Fi settings.
- Request account assistance or data deletion by contacting the university IT Help Desk.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or security updates. Any changes will be posted immediately on this page with an updated date.
